Laser Dentistry
Dental lasers aid in the treatment of conditions in the mouth using light energy. The laser is very selective, penetrating to a specific depth in the tissue being treated. The tissue absorbs the laser light which agitates the molecules, causing the cells to gently break apart. This very precisely treats only the desired area, leaving healthy gums and teeth untouched.
Uses of Dental Lasers
There are different varieties of dental lasers for the treament of different oral tissues. We can use them on soft tissues like gums, or on hard tissues like teeth and bone.
We may use them on soft tissue to reshape healthy gums, remove diseased gums, decontaminate infected gum pockets, or treat some sores on the mouth.
We also use lasers on hard tissue to remove tooth decay and to prepare teeth for sealants, bonding, fillings and restorations, root canal therapy, reshaping bone, and treating sensitive teeth.
